Maria del Mar Serrano Rebollo MARIA SERRANO was born in Seville, Spain in 1971. From early age on, she was taught Flamenco dancing from the best teachers in Seville. José Galván, Los Gitanillos de Bronce, Juan Manuel, Farruco just to name a few recognized her talent and started to become an influence in her learning. She started touring across the world with famous ensembles, such as Compañia Paco Moyano, Familia Montoya, Compañia Juan Ramirez, Chiquetete, Compañia Meme Menjibar. Her breakthrough to being a star in the Flamenco world came in 1993. During this year, she received a part in the Spanish TV series „En busca de Carmen“ and stood infront of the camera with Carmen Vargas, Ana Parilla, Familia Fernandez, Javier La Torre.
Shortly after, André Heller chose Maria for his production „Magneten“. Six months, in shows all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland, she enchanted the audience with her beautiful show. The Austrian „NEWS“ even gave her the title of the „VoodooQueen“ of Flamenco.
In the years 1995, 1996 and 1997, Maria Serrano toured throughout Europe with her Compañia Flamenca Alhama. Her new stage show „Mi CARMEN Flamenca“ is based on the music of the new CD production and can be seen on Oktober 26th, 1998 during the premiere in the Deutschen Oper in Berlin. After this, Maria will start a 6 month long world tour.
