FIRST SUMMER
MYNTA is an exciting Swedisch/Indian World Music Formation featuring two fantastic Indian Classical musicians: FAZAL QURESHI (Tabla) and SHANKAR MAHADEVAN (Vocals). Fazal is the younger brother of Zakir Hussain and is today one of the most sought after Tabla­players in India and the world. Shankar is an upcoming talent in Bombay building up his reputation as a first­class singer and composer.
On Mynta´s 4th album "FIRST SUMMER" you will hear a colorful mix of Indian vocal, New York rap, African rhythms, Swedish Folkmusic and Norwegian willow flute, together with Indian traditional instruments as Tabla, Santoor, Kanjira, Ghatam, Veena and Tanpoora. There is also one track with a "Drum & Bass­Mix" made by one of Swedens most popular DJ ­ DJ SEBA.
This CD is to celebrate the 10­year anniversary of MYNTA playing together with three Indian classical musicians: FAZAL QURESHI ­ tabla, NANDKISHOR MULEY ­ santoor and SHANKAR MAHADEVAN ­ vocal. "It has been 10 wonderful years with hundreds of concerts at festivals, jazzclubs and music­schools ­ and lots of fun. This is our fourth CD ­ enjoy!", says Christian Paulin.
MYNTA is now planning a tour in Europe in October/November ´97 playing at major festivals.
