Alatul – the way for music!
ALATUL is a word from the arabian language and means: „always straight ahead, until the end!“
Place of happening is the smal island of Ibiza. Yaron Marko is head of the band. His parents were from Yemen, he was born in Israel and since 1976 he lives together with his wife – a dancer and choreographer in oriental dance – Nur Banu – on the island. 1976 is the time, when all Hippies travelled to the island – also Yaron and his wife. Through ist special charm, that put both under a spell, they decided to make Ibiza their new home. Yaron is not just a musicians, but also an instrument craftsman. The multitude of instruments, which he can play himself are hand made by using traditional techniques. Always on the look out for new percussion sounds, he has suited himself with the knowledge of the production and handling of instruments from wthnic groups by travelling throughout the world. This is where he also got his inspirations for his music.
The band memebers from ALATUL teamed up years ago to pay live sessions at the so-called „Full-Moon-Trance“ Parties located at the magical settings of the island – a Magical Mystery Tour through the island. Many nationalities live close together on the island – tolerance, happiness in life, creativity and music accompany the people living on the island. It’s a place that is hard to describe – it’s more a feeling you have while visiting.
Through the many nationalities of the band memebrs themselves, Magical Mystery Tour is a percussion production with influences from Africa, Asia, South America and Europe. Many different instruments were used: Bongas, Congas, Cow Bells, Tibetian Bells, Djembes, Darbukas, Agaven Drums, Talking Drums, Tambourines, Whistles and the Didgeridoo.
